Vegetarian Restaurants, Dhabas and
Eat outs in Kashmir.
|
Kashmiri people have never been a
big fan of foods having high fiber and not fat. Thus the choice of
Strict Veg places to eat out is slightly limited. However I bring
you the best you can have while in Srinagar. |
|
Nathu Sweets |
|
Relatively new entrant to Kashmir
Valley. Provides really good choice of Vegetarian Food of
high quality. The greatest appeal of the place is its
surroundings, situated on the Boulevard road along the Dal Lake.
The place is frequented in the evenings. Dishes include Chola
Bhaturde, Chowmein, Manchurian, Biryani and a host of other food
all in Veg.
Location:
Nathu Sweets, Near Shah Abas Hotel Boulevard Road, Dal Lake
Srinagar Kashmir.

Krishna Dhaba |
|
Without doubt the tastiest Veg foods
are available in Kashmir and that too at rock bottom prices at
Krishna Dhaba near Burn Hall School. The foods not only tasty but
seems hygienic too, and its served piping hot. Draw back includes
the crowd which are not always to ones liking. Still its the place
to eat out in if you are in for an extended period of time and
don't want to empty your pockets too soon. Dishes include Rajma
Rice, Shahi Paneer, Palak Paneer, Aloo matar etc etc.
Location:
Krishna Dhaba, Near Burn Hall School. Opposite Petrol Pump.

Shakti Sweets/
Modern Sweets, |
|
These two have been clubbed together
not because they are sister concerns but because the two are
situated so close to each other that you may mistake them to be
one. Shakti Sweets is definitely better than the two, a lot bigger
now than the past. Dishes include Cholapuri, Alo Tika, Chowmein
and Masala Dosa.
Location:
Lal Chowk. Opposite Lamber Lane.

Others |
|
Besides these many other small
places also cater exclusively to the Green eaters. Also all the
other restaurants which have loads of Non Veg stuff on their menu
also have vegetarian items which however are not in great demand
in the Meat eaters zone that is Kashmir. |
